Thistle Golf Course is located in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Thistle is a course modeled after the 1800’s in Scotland, the home to the sport of golf. The course was designed by Tim Cate. Thistle is a 27-hole Par 72 golf course. It has a golf rating of 74.2 and a slope rating of 136. The course is played on beautifully manicured Bentgrass greens. Thistle is well known for its beautiful integration of man-made and natural settings with maritime forests and wildlife wetlands. Thistle golf course also has all the amenities including a Bar, Golf Cart Rentals, Golf Instructors, a restaurant, driving range and Golf Pro Shop.

Absolutely, Rookie Rick. It’s a challenging course but definitely beginner-friendly. Just pay attention to the natural settings – they can be a bit tricky.

As someone who’s been fortunate enough to play on this course, I can attest to the charm and challenges it offers. Those bentgrass greens can be tricky, but the beautiful views definitely compensate. Any golfers heading to North Carolina should put Thistle Golf Course on their must-visit list!

Thistle is a bit of a drive from where I live, but absolutely worth it! Beautiful course.
Always heard great things about Thistle but never had the chance to go there. The course looks absolutely incredible in pictures. Quick question for anyone who’s played there, how’s the pace of play usually? I hate getting bogged down in slow rounds.
